How to Maintain a Frost Free Fridge and Freezer

Defrosting is not required when you have a frost-free refrigerator or freezer. This can save you time, effort and electricity when compared to a traditional refrigerator/freezer.

If you notice ice crystals on the packaging food, it could be damaged. These crystals could cause freezer burn and Frost Free Fridge and Freezer alter the texture of your food.

Defrost

The process of defrosting your freezer isn't glamorous or fun however it is an essential aspect of maintaining your freestanding fridge freezer frost free and freezer. It's also a good idea to empty the entire freezer so you can reorganize the food that is left and eliminate old or expired items. After the defrosting process is completed, you must thoroughly clean and dry the freezer prior to turning it on.

To accelerate the natural process of defrosting, open and close the door to your freezer a few times in order to help the temperature to rise. Take all drawers and shelves off to enable you to access the ice. You can also place some old newspapers or towels that are extremely absorbent on the floor to soak any puddles created by melting the ice.

I also clean the freezer using a cloth that is dipped in a solution of baking soda and vinegar or water. Stains that are stubborn may require scrubbing using a non-scratch scrub brush. I like to clean the coils in the back of my fridge too with the nozzle attachment. This gets rid of all the dust and pet hair that lingers in hard-to-reach areas.

You will not need to defrost your frost-free refrigerator as often as you would with other models. frost-free fridge freezers refrigerators come with a mechanism which circulates cold air to cool food items, thus making it unnecessary to do manual defrosting. It is important to clean your refrigerator at least once a week. Throw out any food items that have passed its expiration date, and clean out all old bottles, jars, and soy sauce packets.

Maintaining

You can also try replacing the freezer gasket if it's damaged or worn. Many major appliance manufacturers offer replacement parts directly including freezer gaskets. It is crucial to remember that only a qualified professional is able to replace a freezer gasket.

Or, you could be experiencing a problem with the fan that circulates air through the freezer area of your fridge. In this instance you'll likely hear a click sound when the fan starts to turn on. The evaporator's ice has grown too thick and is causing the fan blades to be damaged. This will require a professional to be diagnosed and rectified.
